Practise the finance decisions textbooks only describe

Cash is running short in week nine, and a big payment is due in euros. Build the forecast, weigh the options and send your recommendation to the CFO, inside a company where the numbers are connected.

A real exercise

The company's cash forecast dips below what the bank allows in one week of the next thirteen. You can delay an investment, chase customer payments, stretch a supplier or draw on the credit line. Each one has a cost and a side effect. You pick the set that works and explain it to the CFO.

01

How it works

Every exercise follows the same rhythm as the real job: a problem arrives, you investigate, you act, and the simulated company responds.

  1. 01

    A finance problem lands

A cash gap, a currency risk or a loan limit that is about to be broken.

  2. 02

    You read the situation

Open the forecast, the contracts and the bank terms. Ask sales, purchasing and the CFO.

  3. 03

    You choose and commit

Pull levers, hedge exposures and publish the forecast. Once it goes to the CFO, it is locked.

  4. 04

    You see the result

Was cash enough every week? Did the hedge protect the margin? The debrief shows the reasoning behind each choice.

02

What you practise

Concrete tasks taken from the exercises on this page. Each one is done with real data, under real constraints, inside the same simulated company.

  • T01

    Build a 13-week cash forecast

Find the week where cash runs short, not just the quarterly total.

  • T02

    Price every option

Compare delaying spending, collecting faster, stretching suppliers and borrowing.

  • T03

    Stay within loan conditions

Keep the ratios the bank requires, or explain the cost of breaking them.

  • T04

    Hedge a currency payment

Decide how much of a foreign-currency bill to protect, and how.

  • T05

    Write the recommendation

Turn the analysis into a short, defensible note for the CFO.

What your organisation gets

Evidence, not attendance.

  1. 01

    Finance that feels real

Students and new analysts work through a live company's cash, not a table at the end of a chapter.

  2. 02

    Judgement, not just formulas

There is more than one good answer, and the reasoning is assessed as well as the result.

  3. 03

    Easy to grade fairly

Every learner faces the same numbers, and every decision is recorded.

03

The tools you work with

Working tools, not screenshots. They read the same live data as the rest of the simulated company, and what you change in one shows up in the others.

  • 01

    13-week cash forecast

Where cash dips below the minimum, and what the lender's covenant test will say.

  • 02

    Currency desk

Quotes, existing hedges, and what a foreign-currency payable costs under each rate.

04

Six levels, one exercise

Teachers and trainers choose how much help each person gets. The exercise stays the same; only the guidance and the grading change.

What every attempt leaves behind

Judge the work, not a quiz score. Every attempt is recorded as it happens, so you can see how someone worked, not only where they ended up.

  • Every action, in order

What was checked, who was asked, what was changed and when. Nothing is overwritten.

  • Scores by skill

Each exercise scores the skills it was built to test, from what was actually done.

  • Weak habits, flagged

Poor patterns in how the work was done are flagged, not only wrong final answers.

  • A replay of the attempt

Step through the session as it happened, with typed personal details masked.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Planning a pilot? See how a pilot runs.

What finance level is this for?

Upper-year undergraduate finance and economics students, graduate students, and new analysts in treasury or FP&A teams.

Do learners need Excel?

No. The forecasting and hedging tools are built in, so the time goes into decisions instead of spreadsheet set-up.

Is it connected to the other exercises?

Yes. The finance exercises take place in the same simulated manufacturer as the planning and legal ones, so a late supplier there is a cash problem here.
