RolesRole: maintenance technician

Practise diagnosing and fixing machines, safely

Find out why a machine is failing from its data and history, isolate it properly, fix it and prove the fix worked, all on a 3D machine in a simulated plant.

A real exercise

The press on Assembly B stopped mid-batch. The line still powers up, but the press head won't move as it should. Is it the drive or the tooling? You lock the line out in the right order, read the drive's signals, and tell the maintenance lead exactly which part to order.

01

How it works

Every exercise follows the same rhythm as the real job: a problem arrives, you investigate, you act, and the simulated company responds.

  1. 01

    An alarm goes off

Machine data shows something is wrong.

  2. 02

    Investigate

Read the data, check the maintenance history, ask the reliability engineer.

  3. 03

    Work safely

Lock out and tag out before you touch anything. Then inspect and measure.

  4. 04

    Fix and record

Repair, verify, and write the work order the next person will rely on.

02

What you practise

Concrete tasks taken from the exercises on this page. Each one is done with real data, under real constraints, inside the same simulated company.

  • T01

    Read machine data

Vibration, temperatures and other signals against their limits.

  • T02

    Use the history

Past work orders often hold the answer.

  • T03

    Lockout/tagout

The simulation refuses to let you work on live equipment.

  • T04

Root cause, not just the symptom

Fix why it failed, not only what failed.

What you get

Experience you can point to.

  1. 01

    Safe habits

The safe order of steps becomes automatic.

  2. 02

    Better diagnosis

Practise a methodical approach instead of trial and error.

  3. 03

    Ready for the floor

Arrive on the job having already handled a breakdown.

03

The tools you work with

Working tools, not screenshots. They read the same live data as the rest of the simulated company, and what you change in one shows up in the others.

  • 01

    Machine data

Vibration, temperature, cycle time and throughput per work centre, over time.

  • 02

    Work orders

Work orders, repair history, spare parts and who is assigned to what.

  • 03

    Capacity

Load against available hours per work centre, with overtime and offload options.

  • 04

    Job sequencing

Order released jobs by rule or by hand and compare how late each plan runs.

Six levels, one exercise

Start by watching it done, then take the hints away one step at a time until you can do it alone.

A debrief after every attempt

You see what went well, what did not, and what a stronger approach looks like, based on what you actually did.

  • Every action, in order

What was checked, who was asked, what was changed and when. Nothing is overwritten.

  • Scores by skill

Each exercise scores the skills it was built to test, from what was actually done.

  • Weak habits, flagged

Poor patterns in how the work was done are flagged, not only wrong final answers.

  • A replay of the attempt

Step through the session as it happened, with typed personal details masked.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need tools or a workshop?

No. Everything happens on 3D machines in your browser.

Does it certify me?

No. It is practice, and it does not issue safety certificates. It helps you follow what that training teaches.
